Book Of Mormon: Examining 5 Things

The Book of Mormon (BOM) is said to be the most correct book on earth, according to Mormons. For that reason, let us put this to the test to see if it complements or goes against the teachings of the Bible.  Here are just 5 things that we know about and is taught from its pages:

1. The Book of Mormon is another testament or gospel of Jesus Christ. It is taught that it is the most correct book on earth.
2. Before Jesus’s Birth, the Book of Mormon people were using the names “Christ”, “Jesus”, or “Jesus Christ”.
3. Before Jesus’s Birth, the Book of Mormon people were being forgiven by the blood of Jesus.
4. Jesus was born in Jerusalem.
5. Melchizedek had a father and mother.

Let us now compare these Book of Mormon teachings with the Bible.
1.
BOM Teaching: The Book of Mormon is another testament or gospel of Jesus Christ. It is taught that it is the most correct book on earth. Joseph Smith said, “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book” (History of the Church, 4:461)

Bible Teaching: Beware of another gospel different from the Bible. “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:6-8 (KJV)

BOM Teaching: Before Jesus’s Birth, the Book of Mormon people were using the names “Christ”, “Jesus”, or “Jesus Christ”.

Bible Teaching: It wasn’t until right before Jesus’s birth that someone used the name “Christ” or “Jesus”.  These names first appeared with Jesus’s genealogy and birth in Matthew 1.

3.
BOM Teaching: Before Jesus’s Birth, the Book of Mormon people were being forgiven by the blood of Jesus. “And now, it came to pass that when king Benjamin had made an end of speaking the words which had been delivered unto him by the angel of the Lord, that he cast his eyes round about on the multitude, and behold they had fallen to the earth, for the fear of the Lord had come upon them. And they had viewed themselves in their own carnal state, even less than the dust of the earth. And they all cried aloud with one voice, saying: O have mercy, and apply the atoning blood of Christ that we may receive forgiveness of our sins, and our hearts may be purified; for we believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who created heaven and earth, and all things; who shall come down among the children of men.” Mosiah 4:1,2 (124 B.C)

Bible Teaching: After Jesus’s Birth, because of the cross, we are forgiven by the blood of Jesus. “And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.” Colossians 2:13,14 (KJV) “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.” 1 Peter 3:18 (KJV)

4.
BOM Teaching: Jesus was born in Jerusalem. “And behold, he shall be born of Mary, at Jerusalem which is the land of our forefathers, she being a virgin, a precious and chosen vessel, who shall be overshadowed and conceive by the power of the Holy Ghost, and bring forth a son, yea, even the Son of God.” Alma 7:10

Bible Teaching: Jesus was born in Bethlehem. “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” Micah 5:2 (KJV) “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem” Matthew 2:1 (KJV)

5.
BOM Teaching: Melchizedek had a father and mother. “But Melchizedek having exercised mighty faith, and received the office of the high priesthood according to the holy order of God, did preach repentance unto his people. And behold, they did repent; and Melchizedek did establish peace in the land in his days; therefore he was called the prince of peace, for he was the king of Salem; and he did reign under his father.” Alma 13:18

Bible Teaching: Melchizedek had no father or mother. “For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, and blessed him; To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all; first being by interpretation King of righteousness, and after that also King of Salem, which is, King of peace; Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually.” Hebrews 7:1-3 (KJV)

As you can see above, it takes no opinion to decide that the Book of Mormon is not on par with the Bible. These 5 teachings alone are contrary to God’s Word. Therefore, it teaches another gospel. Any religious book that does not compliment the Bible’s teachings is of man and cannot be trusted. Read the Bible, lest you be led astray. Anyone that has read this message and is in Mormonism, please allow this message to sink in. I pray that you no longer continue in a religion with man-made teachings.
