False Teachings In Mormonism

Those that teach and accept different teachings that are contrary to or not in the Bible are on a path that leads to destruction. There is no way of getting around this. These people have chosen to follow after and to believe in things that God’s Word does not approve of. Therefore, His wrath is upon such people that blaspheme His Words and add to them. We do have a choice in life. We can either read the Bible daily and pray often, while understanding what God says, or continue believing things that are untrue. The latter will one day land a person in hell. I say this with much conviction because God has spoken it. As John wrote, 2“whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” You see, a person that doesn’t follow what God teaches is not of Him but of the devil. Their false beliefs are wicked and contrary to God in every way. So, for a person to get off track from God, all they have to do is believe the doctrines of men. Unfortunately, there are groups of cults out there that now have people following beliefs contrary to God. Mormons are among those that don’t care if they believe in things contrary to or not in the Bible and are very deceived. As you will learn next, their core teachings are not sound and are either additions to the Bible or contrary to it. And because of this, as John said, we should not allow them into our homes, unless God has called us to witness to them.

The Mormons have dug themselves into a deep hole and that is why it is so hard to reach them with the gospel. First things first, is helping them understand what the Bible teaches. Then, helping them understand that if our thinking does not line up with God’s Word, then it is false and must be thrown out of our lives. The same can be said with Mormonism’s false beliefs, such as….

  1. Angels: People can become angels.
  2. Baptisms: Baptisms for the dead.
  3. Blacks: God curses people with black skin if their deeds are wicked.
  4. Children of God: We are all His children.
  5. Deacons: Are unmarried.
  6. Father: The Father has a body.
  7. Gethsemane: Jesus suffered for our sins.
  8. God: We become Gods.
  9. Heavenly Mother: The Father is married and had his creation through her.
  10. Marriage: Eternal marriage in heaven.
  11. Polygamy: It is Ok with men having more than one wife.
  12. Priesthood: The priesthood is still practiced today along with High priests in the church.
  13. Prophets: Prophets lead the church and speak to us through God.
  14. Resurrection: People that died after Christ were resurrected.
  15. Salvation: Saved by grace through works.
  16. Temple: These are buildings where God dwells and are important.
  17. Worship: Only worship the Father.

Those that read the Bible would know and understand that the teachings above are false. And to help you to know this to be true, each one of the Bible teachings below will have a link to them, if needed to back them up with scripture. So compared to the false beliefs above, these are the true teachings from God’s Word, the Bible, which are…

  1. Angels: People cannot become angels.
  2. Baptisms: Baptisms for the dead was never a church practice.
  3. Blacks: God does not look upon the outside appearance and does not curse people with different skin colors because of their wicked deeds.
  4. Children of God: Those that believe in Jesus are God’s children.
  5. Deacons: Are married.
  6. Father: The Father is Spirit and we ought to worship Him in Spirit.
  7. Gethsemane: Jesus prayed in the garden, no payment of sins was made here.
  8. God: There is only one God and we cannot become Gods.
  9. Heavenly Mother: The Bible is not for this teaching but against it.
  10. Marriage: There is no marriage in heaven.
  11. Polygamy: We are commanded to not have more than one wife.
  12. Priesthood: The priesthood was done away with the laws of Moses. Jesus is the last High Priest.
  13. Prophets: Jesus leads the church and not prophets. We are spoken to by Jesus and not prophets.
  14. Resurrection: People that died before Christ died on the cross were resurrected.
  15. Salvation: Saved by grace through faith.
  16. Temple: We are the temple of God and He does not dwell in temples made with hands.
  17. Worship: We worship the Father and the Son.

From what you have learned, there should be only one decision to make and that is to follow Jesus and what He taught in the Bible. That means to no longer follow after the doctrines of men. As you can see above, the false teachings of Mormonism have really distorted what God’s Word says. And this can easily happen when a False Prophet comes saying that they have new revelations from God. Because they appear genuine on the outside, they are also very believable, even to the point of tricking others into believing in things that the Bible is either silent about or is contrary to. And since every member of that cult studies their other books, along with the Bible, God’s Word gets even more distorted until people no longer understand what is true anymore. Truly, what we have in Mormonism are believers that are under the mind control of their prophets. This has put a veil over their faces that they can only see good in their teachings, even when many of their beliefs are not of God. To every member of that church, I would advise them to open their ears and eyes to what Jesus said here, 1“and many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.” My heart breaks to see these people walk on thin ice with God and be deceived. On the other hand, I am so grateful to see people searching for truth and coming out of false religions, such as this. To these people, John said, 2“I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.” Know that 2“many deceivers are entered into the world”, so always be reading the Bible, that you may know what is truth and what is false.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray for every soul on earth to wake up to their false beliefs. May they finally realize that what Your Word says is truth and if their beliefs do not line up with it, then it is false. I pray this Lord because I know that so many people are on a path that leads to destruction because of their false beliefs. These people are deceived and need a way out Lord. So I pray for the false teachers as well, I know that many of them are just teaching what they heard from others and are not trying to hurt other people or lead them to hell. However, they are doing it anyway and it is a sad thing to see. So a change needs to happen in the false teacher’s hearts as much as in the believer. If things do not change in this fashion, then many people will continue on with their lives like nothing is wrong and find themselves frightened by their outcome come judgment day. This day of reckoning will surely wake up them when they come before You in judgment, but I pray that they do not wait till then. May more and more people repent now and start reading Your Words in the Bible, that they may be saved. I know that as they do this, they will have an understanding of the false teachings that they believe in and teach. Then will they throw them out and extinguish them once and for all, for Your sake, oh Lord. This I pray for every Mormon to do the same. They do not realize the dangers that they are in right now and if they were to die, hell would be their destination. This might seem like judging Lord but I say this to wake them up now before their destination is set in stone. I know there is a way out of the darkness of this world and it all starts by seeking You, reading the Bible, praying, and doing as You say. This I pray Lord, in thy Holy Name, Jesus. Amen.

1Matthew 24:1-14 (KJV)
1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

22 John 1 (KJV)
1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth;
2 For the truth’s sake, which dwelleth in us, and shall be with us for ever.
3 Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.
4 I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.
5 And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
12 Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
13 The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.

  1. Hey, Paul. Met you at LDS General Conference in October. We had a good, friendly conversation. Too bad, however, about this particular aspect of your fine looking website. I appreciate that generating caricatures of the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ is a stock-in-trade practice for some Evangelical Christians. After our conversation in Salt Lake, I would have thought better of you. The only thing this (as well as ruby’s comment above) demonstrate is what we already know about the internet.
