Power Of The Holy Spirit Not Priesthood

When reading the Bible, some people assume that words like power also mean the priesthood, but in reality, it means the Holy Spirit. In the new covenant, we don’t hear about people receiving the priesthood any longer, but instead the baptism of the Holy Spirit, which is the power of God in us. Jesus spoke of this plainly before ascending into heaven. It is written, “for John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence. When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:5-8) So the power of God in us is not the priesthood, but the Holy Spirit. Remember this. Don’t let cults like Mormonism lead you to believe differently than what the Bible says.

It is the next chapter in Acts, in which we learn about the Holy Spirit falling upon the disciples of Jesus. After this happened, they received the promised power of God and referred to the prophet Joel who said, “but this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams: And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke.” (Acts 2:16-19) We have seen the disciples of Jesus go forth and do mighty miracles through the power of the Holy Spirit. This started in the first generation of the church and has continued until now. So the next time you hear somebody say that by the power of the priesthood they do things, bring them to Acts, chapter 1, and help them understand the Holy Spirit is this power, not the priesthood. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that more people will come to know You and be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Bible has been tainted by wicked men and women who think they know better than You. It is hard to believe that we have missionaries from a cult called, “Mormonism”, trying to tell people that priesthood is Your power in us, not the Holy Spirit. How they are taking upon them a priesthood that only sits with You, Jesus, our high priest. As believers, we are under Your royal priesthood, not that we hold it but You alone. I trust in You, God. People have failed me in life, but You will never fail me, nor forsake me. Lord, there are many lost souls in my family and extended family. Many of them are tied down in the Mormon cult and will continue to believe their false teachings unless something changes in their lives. Lord, I have tried to reach many of them for Your sake. Some of them are simply unreachable. But Lord, I know that anybody that is on the path of destruction can still be turned to You, for salvation. Lead them out of this cult and fill them with the power of the Holy Spirit. I love You, Jesus. I trust in You. Amen.
