Reasons Not To Read The Book Of Mormon

There are many reasons why people should not read the Book of Mormon. #1, it teaches a false atonement (Mosiah 3:7).  Adding the garden to the cross when it comes to the payment of sins. This is a damnable teaching that is only found in this book. #2, it teaches that baptism is necessary for salvation (3 Nephi 11:35-38). This creates a works based salvation, which is false. #3, it teaches that we are saved after all we can do (2 Nephi 25:23). This again says that being saved by faith alone is not enough, and we must prove to God that we are saved through our works. This is a doctrine of man and, therefore, goes against what the Bible teaches. #4, we learn about a racist god (2 Nephi 5:20-22). A god that curses white people with black skin because of their sins. These are just a few reasons why nobody should ever read the Book of Mormon. Does this book speak about Jesus? Sure, but a fictional character, along with fictional characters that speak of him. My friends, do not trust what people are saying about the Book of Mormon, for it is false and not of God. I have done a ton of research when it comes to this book and know for a fact it is not of God but orchestrated by the devil.

The Bible teaches something entirely different when it comes to these teachings in the Book of Mormon. See below for details…
1. Jesus atoned for our sins through his death on the cross. Jesus is the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world…
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” (Romans 5:8-11)
2. Baptism is important but is not necessary for salvation. Think about how the thief on the cross was saved without baptism…
“And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:42,43)
3. We are saved by grace through faith and not of works. Our own works are as filthy rags in God’s sight…
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8,9)
4. God looks upon the heart and doesn’t care about skin color. This is why God doesn’t care about self-righteous acts..
“but the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

The Bible is God’s Word. You can trust what He has preserved for mankind is scripture. It is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path, as David said. People have tried to add their own words to scripture, but they keep failing over and over again. If the Book of Mormon is also scripture then the discrepancies I mentioned above would not exist. And this is just a short list of the Book of Mormon Contradictions to the Bible, which are many. You can see for yourself HERE. And what does reading the Book of Mormon do to a person in the Christian faith? #1, they no longer believe that Jesus only atoned for our sins but add the garden to it. #2, they no longer believe that through faith alone in Jesus are we saved but add baptism to it. #3, they no longer believe that faith, and even baptism is enough, but temple work is necessary to be exalted to godhood. #4, they now believe that people must look the part in order for God to accept you. This is forgetting the fact that God looks upon the heart. Sure, the Mormon people act and look very religious, but that doesn’t mean they are saved. The fact of the matter is they believe in the Book of Mormon, which is leading them away from God and towards Him. The Bible alone is what they need. Amen.

  1. I find your horrendous anger against the LDS church Puzzling for someone who preaches the love of Christ and freedom of religion in America.

  2. Paul outlined the primary reasons not to read the BOM. However, we need to know why and how it’s different from teachings in the Bible. In addition to the above, it would be good to read the chart in this website that shows how the BOM both contradicts both itself and the Bible.

  3. Amen! The Book of Mormon contradicts and plagiarizes the Holy Bible, teaches nothing new except for heresy and has no evidence to support it being a historical book. Don’t read it. The Holy Bible is fact and should be read every day but the Book of Mormon is fiction and should be discarded. The book of Mormon teaches a false gospel. Ditch that book. Read only the Holy Bible and see what Jesus Christ can do in your life. Trust Jesus.
