3rd Article Of Faith In Mormonism Exposed

Salvation in Mormonism is by way of works. They believe they have to work their way to heaven to be saved. They even claim this in their 3rd article of faith. It reads, “we believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.” (3rd Article Of Faith) And so the Mormon people rely on obeying the laws set forth in their church, along with the ordinances they perform in their temples, in order to be saved. Without doing these things, they believe nobody can be saved. That is why they feel the need to also do the same temple ordinances for dead people. Do they not realize that all this is in vain? Paul wrote, “and you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross.” (Colossians 2:13,14) We were once bound by ordinances, but Jesus took them away with His blood. He stamped them upon the cross. To not believe this, you have not accepted the Lord’s atoning sacrifice.

The premise of Mormons working their way to heaven comes from their beloved Book of Mormon. It reads, “for we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” (2 Nephi 25:23) And so they send off their missionaries in all the world for one reason and that is because “by grace are ye saved, after all we can do”. Do they point people to their Jesus? Yes. However, it not being the same Jesus of the Bible. Truly, Mormonism is a counterfeit. They will never do enough works on their mission or their temples to merit heaven. This is taking away what Jesus did for us on the cross. On the other hand, this is how a person is saved. Paul wrote, “that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9) Salvation doesn’t have to be complicated, and this why the thief on the cross was saved without baptism. In conclusion, don’t trust the teachings of Mormonism. They are not of God, but of men. Amen.

Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that many ex-Mormons will be saved. I am speaking of Mormons now that will one day come to You for salvation. This would mean denying what they were taught and allowing You to teach them. I know that many Christians have been trying to help them over the years, and to no avail. How many of these people have listened and turned from their sins, we will never know. All I know is that I have many family members that are still deeply set in their Mormon ways. Even having a conversation about You, God, is difficult. It is like they speak an entirely different language than Christians do when it comes to Your truth. Don’t they realize that this means that the Spirit in Christianity is different than the spirit in Mormonism? How You left Your church the Holy Spirit, which never would be destroyed. Where false prophets and teachers are led by evil spirits. Lord, cast them out, for I know that many Mormons are possessed and don’t even realize it. Why else would talking to them be so unfruitful with them being set in their ways? Give them eyes to see. I love You, Jesus. I believe in You, Lord. You deserve the glory and the praise. Amen.

  1. There is only one way to be saved by the Law. Never break any part of it in thought, word or deed from the time you were born until the time you die. Your other option is to believe that Jesus paid the total price for your sins; repent by agreeing with God that you are a sinner, and trust Jesus to be your Savior and Lord. John 3:16-18, John 14:6, Ephesians 2:8-10.
