The biggest thing in Mormonism is families, especially eternal marriage. Every Mormon’s biggest desire in this life is to one day have an eternal family. They are taught that this doctrine of eternal marriage was given to Adam and Eve, but as time went by this sealing power was taken from the earth. This was until God restored His church, as so they say. It is written, “Adam and Eve were married by God before there was any death in the world. They had an eternal marriage. They taught the law of eternal marriage to their children and their children’s children. As the years passed, wickedness entered the hearts of the people and the authority to perform this sacred ordinance was taken from the earth. Through the Restoration of the gospel, eternal marriage has been restored to earth.” (Chapter 38: Eternal Marriage) So you see, they have made up something that doesn’t exist in scripture and claim it to be lost for thousands of years. So if we have to rely on books being lost to believe this, is it reliable? Not at all. Doctrines come from the Bible, not people who think things up and say it is from God.
Mormons will be surprised by what Jesus taught about the afterlife. He said, “the children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.” (Luke 20:34-36) “Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.” (Mark 12:24,25) So in summary, people in this life get married, but in the afterlife, this is not the case. Even people who are married like the woman Jesus is speaking of will not be with any of her earthly husbands in the next. Why is this? It is because we are now like unto angels who are not married, as Jesus taught. So any sealing power that Mormons mention is a false doctrine. These people in the Mormon church deny Jesus and what He taught in the Bible. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that people would become content with what the Bible teaches and not feel like they have to add to it. Through the simplicity of the things You’ve taught us in scripture, we can have a life that is filled with joy that is beyond earthly pleasure. I am amazed at how Your words speak to my heart each time I read them. It is like they jump off the page, and help explain how to deal with life’s challenges. People say that the Bible is old and that we need something new to engage with You. What I have found, God, is that You do still speak to us. For this reason, many Christians have been writing for the last two thousand years in their own books. Praise God for these writings. I love how they point us to You also and the best part is that they help us understand the Bible better. Lord, You have done a work through me also. I have written thousands of messages over these last many years, but I do not deserve the glory or praise. You do. My only goal has been to help people understand the Bible better and to draw them nearer to You, Jesus. Thank You for using me. You are my everything. I love You, Lord. Amen.
Yes. The Bible teaches a beautiful simplicity. Yes. The teachings of Jesus and of what he did for us ‘jump off the page’.
