A false teaching that is out there in cults like Mormonism is that every person is a child of God. What these people don’t understand is that God’s people are those in Israel. Thankfully, Jesus extended salvation past the Jews and for us also the gentiles. That is why Jesus said to his disciples, “go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” (Mark 16:15,16) Shortly after the Lord said this He descended into heaven and left on the earth the Holy Spirit. It is through the Spirit that people have come to Christ all around the world these two thousand years. These same people are adopted in as sons and daughters of God through their faith in Jesus. As Paul said, “wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster. For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:24-26) I love how Paul said that we are the children of God through faith in Jesus. This is the truth that Mormons hate.
One thing we do when we have faith in Jesus is be baptized. This is when we put on Christ, having died to our old life and rise with Jesus in baptism. He is then made alive in us through the Holy Spirit. And although there are thousands of different churches in all the world, we are all one in Christ Jesus when we submit our lives to follow Him. We become part of His body, the church, with Him being the head. Now the Jews may say that only they are part of Abraham’s seed, and that was true until we as gentiles also came to faith. Praise God that we are adopted in also and are also heirs to God’s promises along with the Jews. As Paul said, “for as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:27-29) This cannot be any more clear that we are not all children of God, but only through faith in Jesus do we become a son and daughter of our Father in heaven. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that You will move in those that say they are for You. I am talking about every person in every denomination, non-denomination, including false religions and cults. I mention false religions and cults, for I know that many people therein, would say they love You and desire to do Your will above all else also. The only thing stopping them from doing this are their false beliefs, but I know that nothing can stop Your hand from moving and shaping in these people’s lives. I may not be able to persuade people out of believing in a false teaching on my own, but You can, Lord. I am not talking about conforming false religions to follow You for I know this is impossible. What is possible are people in those so-called church walls to come to faith. I pray for a revival through the Holy Spirit. Bring Your witnesses to these people also in the thousands, but do so by teaching them how to reach the lost for Your kingdom. Many people would love to teach people in their own way, but put that to rest also. As we open our mouths, fill them with the Spirit. Only You can change people, not anything we can do. I trust in You, Lord. I believe in You. I love You, God. Amen.
Far too many do not understand that the Good News began with the Jews and that without an understanding of the significance of God’s relationship with his people, they can’t gain a clear comprehension of the scope of the Bible narrative.
