Joseph Smith False Prophecies: Wicked Soon Destroyed

On February 2, 1833, Joseph Smith prophesied the following. “And now I am prepared to say by the authority of Jesus Christ, that not many years shall pass away before the United States shall present such a scene of bloodshed as has not a parallel in the history of our nation; pestilence, hail, famine, and earthquake will sweep the wicked of this generation from off the face of the land, to open and prepare the way for the return of the lost tribes of Israel from the north country. The people of the Lord, those who have complied with the requirements of the new covenant, have already commenced gathering together to Zion, which is in the state of Missouri; therefore I declare unto you the warning which the Lord has commanded to declare unto this generation, remembering that the eyes of my Maker are upon me, and that to him I am accountable for every word I say, wishing nothing worse to my fellow-men than their eternal salvation.” (History of the Church, Vol. 1, pp. 315-316) Did you know that a generational gap consists of around 25 to 30 years? Therefore, what you just heard was presumed for the timeframe of Joseph Smith and not years after.

Joseph Smith continued and said, “therefore, “Fear God, and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment is come.” Repent ye, repent ye, and embrace the everlasting covenant and flee to Zion, before the overflowing scourge overtake you, for there are those now living upon the earth whose eyes shall not be closed in death until they see all these things, which I have spoken, fulfilled.” (History of the Church, Vol. 1, pp. 315-316) Notice how Joseph Smith says in his generation this widespread destruction of the wicked would take place. However, this did not take place. Therefore, we have something to say to people who make presumptions like this and says they are of God. Jesus said, “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:22,23) Surely, I would not want to be Joseph come judgment day, for Jesus does not know Him as His servant but a false prophet. He will depart from the Lord’s presence and into the lake of fire. Amen.

Let us pray:
Lord, help people know who You are. Not to presume that they are speaking for You, but actually allow You into their lives. We have too many people who prophesy things out of their own hearts, where You are missing completely from their lives. I see this with the prophets of Mormonism. It started with the false prophet, Joseph Smith, and has continued with their current so-called prophets. How can these people feel good about themselves when they willingly follow men and not You, God? What they teach and believe are evil since it goes against what the Bible says. I will never understand why Mormons justify their beliefs when their teachings are nothing like Your Word teaches. It is like they have a form of truth, but at the same time, it has to be justified in order to believe in it. If only the Mormons compared their teachings with the Bible before believing in anything. Help us, also, know how to reach these people for Your sake. I believe in You, Jesus. I trust in You, God. Amen.

  1. The mere fact that JS thinks Zion is in Missouri is laughable. The End Days Are about the Jews for the most part. Any gathering of Jews will take place in Israel. Jesus will return the 2nd time to Jerusalem, touching down on the Mt. Of Olives. Such nonsense displays a complete lack of understanding of the relationship of God to His Chosen People, the Jews.
