Idolatry has been a big issue since the beginning of time. It has been addressed time and time again for centuries in the Bible. And to help people get the point across that believing in other gods besides the God of Israel is wrong, Paul taught the following… “Now as touching things offered unto idols, we know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth. And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know. But if any man love God, the same is known of him. As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, (as there be gods many, and lords many,) But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” (1 Corinthians 8:1-6) Here we learn that those people who love God, are also known by Him. This being the one true God of the Bible. The same God who is alive and active, not some fake god who cannot hear or act upon people’s prayers. I am speaking of the false gods of Hinduism, Buddhism, Mormonism, and others. Mormonism, because they believe they can become a god themselves when they die. Which is the same thinking Satan had.
Paul addressed the fact that eating things sacrificed to idols is wrong, but so is believing in many gods or many lords. These are false gods, hence the lowercase “g” and “l” in those words. It doesn’t matter if you say that there are other gods who exist in heaven or on earth, it is simply a made-up god. Believing in such things is idolatry in God’s sight, which is not permissible if a person wants to go to heaven. For all idolators will not inherit the kingdom of God. Now, Paul did speak out about true believers, who believe in “one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.” (1 Corinthians 8:6) This is huge, for it emphasizes the fact that there is only one God (the Father) and one Lord (Jesus Christ). Now, Jesus Christ is also God, for the Father is in Him also. Jesus said, “believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.” (John 14:11) So we have the Holy Trinity, which is God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are three person’s in one God. Amen. Any other God is blasphemy. So please stop believing in, and or worshiping other gods if you do now. We will not become gods as well when we die. These are false beliefs, wielded by false teachers. They misinterpret the Bible, in order to lead people astray. But the one true God can help point you to heaven if you would believe.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I love You and cherish the moments I have with You in prayer. You are alive and active in my life and in others. Your presence is so amazing and I am in awestruck just to be with You. I worship You, God. I wish that all the world could know You, the only one true God in the heavens and earth. How other gods, except for You, Father, is a false god. I am speaking of You also Jesus, whom the Father also dwells. You are my God, as much as the Father and the Spirit are also. Truly, the Bible teaches that in the Holy Trinity, there is God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are three person’s in one God. I believe what Your Word says. I will not add or take away from what has been spoken of in 1 John 5, verses 7, which reads, “for there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7) Amen and amen. I don’t fully understand everything about You, God, but I know that You, Jesus, is the only way to heaven. There are many counterfeits out there, but I must follow You, Lord, to find true happiness and joy in this life and the next. Thank You for keeping me on Your holy and righteous path and not allowing me to believe in any other false gods. I was once a part of the Mormon church and also believed that I would become my own god when I die, but I am so happy that I am now out of that false religion. Only You are my God. I wish people would stop their false teachings, but I know this cannot happen. So I just pray that more people will come out of what is false and to You alone, Jesus. I love You. Amen.
