Book Of Mormon Contradiction: 2 Nephi 25:29 – Part 1

As Christians, we worship Jesus but do Mormons and if not, why? Let us look at what they say about worship and if Jesus is involved. We learn that in their Book of Mormon, it teaches about worshipping Jesus, as Christians do, based on the Bible. 2 Nephi 25:29 reads, “And now behold, I say unto you that the right way is to believe in Christ, and deny him not; and Christ is the Holy One of Israel; wherefore ye must bow down before him, and worship him with all your might, mind, and strength, and your whole soul; and if ye do this ye shall in nowise be cast out.” Other places in the Book of Mormon also says the same thing about worshipping Jesus. However, the current Mormon teaching is that God the Father and Him alone should be worshipped, and not the Son. Bruce R Mcconkie, one of the 12 Apostles, said, “we worship the Father and him only and no one else. We do not worship the Son, and we do not worship the Holy Ghost”. Also, in speaking of God the Father, the lds.org site says, “God the Father is the Supreme Being in whom we believe and whom we worship.” I hope you see the issue here. It is very evident that the Mormon Church leaders do not even agree with their own book. Therefore, the Mormon prophets and their book cannot be trusted. This leads us to believe the Mormons are not led by God. They cannot have it both ways. To be divided in doctrine is wrong and not of God. Therefore, the Mormon prophets are false and their church is false also. On that note, let us clear up the confusion. Turn with me to the true Word of God, the Bible, that talks about worshipping Jesus.

In Matthew 28, it demonstrated that Jesus accepts worship. It reads, 1“and they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.” It also says, 1“then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.” As you can here, as people saw the resurrected Lord, they could not help but worship Him. They fell down at His feet in worship and Jesus received it and never told people to stop. However, when John attempted to worship an angel, the angel said, 3“See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.” Since Jesus and the Father are both considered God, then to worship them both is good. Let us read in Jesus’s own words how he is the God of Abraham, after being asked if he had seen him. Jesus said, 2“Before Abraham was, I am.” Therefore, as Christians, we stick with what the Bible teaches about worshipping Jesus. Mormons, however, cannot agree, for their doctrines are contradictory to their own books and the Bible also. How can somebody be a part of this church and not see the issue. Please pray and think about these things. It is better to be led by God then by men, who do not have the power to save. Come to God, that He may show you the right path.

Let us pray:
Lord, I lift You up in praise. Yes, You are so good Lord. Thank You so much for dying on the cross. Thank You for paying the price for my sins. I am so honored and blessed because of Your mercy and grace. You are my Savior and all healing is in Your hands. I worship You, my Lord, my God. You are my Lord and my King. Thank You for showing such love for me, though I am a sinner. Thank You for forgiving my sins, though I have strayed from Your love. Your will power is what helps me fight against sin and temptation. It is Your great compassion that welcomes me home when I fall. At your feet Lord, do I fall. I give You the uttermost respect and honor. You are so noble and so willing to forgive. There is no one like You, Jesus. I pray that You will find rest in my soul. Bring me closer to Your love, each and every day. Lead me to all truth. My heart’s desire is to follow You. I trust in You, Lord. My hope is in Your promises. I know You are there and rejoice in Your great Name. I love You. Amen.

1Matthew 28:1-17 (KJV)
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.
3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.
7 And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8 And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.
9 And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10 Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.
12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,
13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
14 And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.

2John 8:51-59 (KJV)
51 Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.
52 Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death.
53 Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself?
54 Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God:
55 Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying.
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

3Revelation 22:1-9 (KJV)
1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.
2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
6 And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
