“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” (Romans 5:8-11)
A big reason why Mormons are unsaved is because of their beliefs in a false atonement. This one belief is damning them to hell, even though only few of them will ever understand this in this life. What is this false atonement they teach that no other church teaches? It is that Jesus started the payment for sins in the garden and ended it with His suffering on the cross. The truth of the matter is that in Jesus’s suffering is not where atonement was made either, so they got the garden and the cross wrong. As you just read above in Romans, the atonement took place with Jesus’s death on the cross. Jesus became the final sacrificial Lamb when He died on the cross, just like the animals that were slaughtered and killed for the atonement of the people in the Old Testament times. How Mormons adds suffering to the atonement boggles my mind.
“And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (Luke 22:40-44)
As Romans 5 teaches, we receive salvation through the atonement of Jesus. Because Mormons don’t teach the true atonement, His blood does not cover them. They are unforgiven and unsaved. And if you are wondering where Mormons get this false atonement teaching, it comes from the verses above in Luke 22. They say these verses teach that Jesus started the atonement for sins in the garden. What they don’t realize is that nothing that happened in the garden even matters. Why is that? It is because Jesus was alive in the garden and didn’t die. As you read in Romans 5, atonement is based on Jesus’s death, not suffering. So what will change the opinions of the Mormon people regarding the truths of the atonement? An actual open heart to what the Bible says. Reading the book of Hebrews is a big help. Specifically in Hebrews 10, we learn about how important his death on the cross was in regard to our salvation.
“But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, this is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” (Hebrews 10:12-17)
The Hebrews writer helps us that Jesus sacrificed Himself for our sins. It is made clear that this happened in His death, where in His resurrection He sat down at the right hand of God. Even through Jesus’s blood we are sanctified. If you want to know how we are forgiven, it comes through the Lord’s atoning sacrifice on the cross. So does Jesus’s blood cover the Mormon people? No. They must first believe in His atoning sacrifice on the cross and disregard the things they have been taught in their cult first. Only then can they learn without any influence of man-made ideas, but through the power of the Holy Spirit. Currently, the Mormon people are on the path of destruction. They are dying in their sins every day and not even aware of it. This means hell fire and damnation. Evangelists and street preachers have gone to their conferences each year, and they continue to ignore us. This is their downfall and the reason why they continue to be unsaved. Only the true Jesus of the Bible can set them free. Amen.
Amen! the atonement was only on the cross. Jesus Christ’s death was the atonement. Gethsemane had nothing to do with it. Jesus Christ had to die in order to have made the atonement. Jesus Christ didn’t die in Gethsemane. He died on the cross. Mormons are wrong. They are as yet unsaved. They will perish in hellfire come death if they don’t repent.
Another belief that I see as being just as serious is that of Jesus only paying for Adam’s sins and that we have to pay for our own. With that belief, they must work for their eternal life. It’s not a matter of whether it’s’ canon’ or not. If they believe it, they’re trusting in their work for eternal life.
