Speaking of Elders, Pastors, Bishops, and other leaders in the church, Paul spoke about their conduct and how they should be teaching God’s people. And the only way they can do this without teaching man-made doctrines is to hold tight to the teachings of the Bible. This way, sound doctrine is taught week after week in church. They do this, in order to convince those who are against them of the truth of God. Many people do come into the faith who are deceivers and are closed off to God and the truth. They may start with their own house churches and eventually start their own cult, even making prophets of their own, which are false. Paul spoke of all this and said, “holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers. For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision: Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake. One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.” (Titus 1:9-12) When I read this, Mormonism and their false doctrines and prophets come to mind. These people need to be called out, especially their false teachers rebuked sharply.
We are to show people who are lost what is true from the Bible, that they may lean into that and no longer go astray. Doing this will help save their souls and also lead others out of the path of destruction that the church leaders are under. You must know that people that are unsaved often are very close-minded like Mormons are to the truth. This is because as Paul said their minds and consciences are defiled. They profess to know God, but in the things they do, it really shows their true colors. Abominable things like temple work for the dead, they deny God in their disobedience to His true teachings in the Bible. Paul said this in regards to Mormons and other cults, “this witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith; Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” (Titus 1:13-16) There is hope for those that are lost, but they must open their heart to Jesus first.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that more people who are lost in false religions and cults will be saved. I know that it is impossible while they stay attached to it, so I pray that more people will be removed from them and come to You alone, Jesus, for salvation. Man-made religions are a killer in this society that we live in. So many people are starting up cults here and there, often for money reasons. Others become very big because of their feel-good messages and their teachings that only uplift. The thing is, God, is that their false reality of You, God, is unable to save them. They cannot leave out hell and the lake of fire, just to keep people coming to church. Leaving out repentance and getting right with You in this life also needs to be preached, but often isn’t. And other false religions have decided that they would save people on their own right through baptisms and marriages for the dead. This is an abomination and I cannot believe people are falling for such lies. I can’t even imagine how you must feel about these false doctrines and practices when it comes to the Mormon Temples. All I know, God, is that I wish to lead as many of them out of this false religion and to You alone, Jesus. Open their eyes and ears God. Help them find their way in this darkened world. I believe in You. I love You. Amen.
Amen. Mormons have been so indoctrinated that anomalies in their doctrines and scripture become invisible to them. Prospective members are introduced to a church community atmosphere that seems (on the surface) to be so loving, kind, and appealing. They (and practicing Mormons) are told that they can ignore any anomaly that they might see in favor of asking God or the Holy Spirit if the LDS Church is the true church. This, in my opinion, causes a false “yes” answer that they “feel” and determine that the LDS Church is the true church. They are receiving a “feeling” that was previously influenced and manifested by their own subconscious desire. Mormons become so deep-rooted into their community that they are overridden with a desire to be accepted by their community and become blind to doctrine. It makes it difficult for them to conceive leaving the community.
