While there are tons of evidence for the veracity of the Bible, there is no evidence to support the Book of Mormon:
“The Evidence is Always Conveniently Missing:
• Book of Mormon plates …gone
• Book of Mormon cities …none yet
• Book of Mormon peoples …still no evidence
• Book of Mormon events (like wars of extermination) …nothing
• “Reformed Egyptian” …no evidence
• “Book of Abraham” manuscript …totally debunked
• Smith’s fulfilled prophecies …nope
• Smith baptized/ordained by Apostolic ghosts… no evidence
• Ancient Christian “Melchizedek” priesthood …no evidence
• Christian “Aaronic” priesthood …no such thing
• “Great Apostasy” …no evidence
• Apostolic era Mormonesque church …no evidence
• “Restoration” …nothing to go on
• Jesus’ post-ascencion visit to the Americas …nada
• Smith’s NINE different first vision accounts…Good indication it’s just a bunch of lies.
Mormons of course have arguments and excuses for all of these things. But to make their case, they always seem to need to be granted special considerations requiring us to dispose of normal logic and critical thinking and, instead, accept Mormonism’s re-definitions of common terms (like “God” and “Jesus” and “salvation”), and to grant authority to Mormon “prophets” and accept claimed personal revelations as “evidence,” etc.
Shouldn’t there be at least something in the unique claims of Mormonism that can be objectively verified?” ~ Shaun Archer
