On December 16th, 1843, Joseph Smith prophesied that congress would be broken up if they do not hear his petition and grant them protection. You see, many people were upset with this cult, especially because of their polygamist activities. People were marrying other man’s wives, even children at a young age. Therefore, the people at this time were angry and began to tar and feather a variety of people for their wrongdoings. They were also being run out of their lands. This is why Joseph Smith made this false prophecy out of anger. “While discussing the petition to Congress, I prophesied by virtue of the holy Priesthood vested in me and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that, if Congress will not hear a petition and grant us protection, they shall be broken up as a government, and God shall damn them. And there shall nothing be left of them, not even a grease spot.”(Millennial Star, Vol. 22, p. 455. See also History of the Church, vol. 6, p. 116) Did congress hear his petition and grant them protection? No. Was congress dismantled? No. Therefore, the fruits of this false prophet are known by reading the history of this man, called Joseph Smith. His teachings are not to be trusted.
As you will read in the “Deseret News, Vol. 1, p. 59″, Joseph Smith’s petition for protection was not heard. This prediction said that congress would be broken up, where congress is made up of representatives from both parties in the government. Therefore, we can know for a surety that the saints were making an appeal to US Government in general and not a specific party. The interesting thing about this false prophecy is that God did not hear Joseph either. And it was seven months later on June 27, 1844, that Joseph Smith was killed while awaiting trial in the county jail (Carthage). Jude wrote about false prophets like this. He said, “for there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Jude 1:4) Notice how he would turn the free grace of God into lasciviousness or lewdness. Making a mockery of God’s gift for us and adding works that people need to do in order to be saved. Joseph Smith also taught a different Jesus than what is taught in the Bible. Therefore, do not trust what the people say in the Mormon church. It is a cult. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that Mormons will learn the true history of Joseph Smith. If only they did, they would see him as a false prophet. Surely, Joseph was a con man and not Your servant. You have given us the Holy Spirit so that we can see who are Your true disciples and who are not. It doesn’t have to be hard to know who is a false prophet, especially when You are leading us. I love the Mormon people but can also see that they are deceived and on the path of destruction. Thank You for showing me this in order to reach them with Your truth. Help these people, God. Many of them are very nice and strive to live decent lives, unfortunately, their beliefs are not of You, but of men. If only they could see this they would run from their cult and to Your feet, Jesus, for salvation. Surely, there is no salvation through any man, but You, Jesus. To teach that people must pass through Joseph Smith to enter heaven is an abominable teaching, for it is teaching people to trust in a man for salvation and not You, Lord. These people need their eyes opened. They are blinded, and I am praying that many of them will be able to see before their life is over. I trust in You, God. Save the least of them. I love You, Lord. Amen.
It only takes one false prophecy for someone to be considered to be a false prophet according to Deuteronomy. JS has a multitude of false prophecies.
