A Bible translation from an ancient manuscript is acceptable if the person is led by God. This means that he or she understands both languages also. Those who rewrite an already translated Bible are not led by God. Any paraphrased version of a translated Biblical text should be thrown out and not read. One such version of the Bible is the Joseph Smith Translation. This is where Joseph Smith used the King James Bible to write his own translation. It is written, “Joseph Smith, the first prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, made a “new translation” of the Bible, using the text of the King James Version (KJV). This work differs from the KJV in at least 3,410 verses and consists of additions, deletions, rearrangements, and other alterations that cause it to vary not only from the KJV but from other biblical texts.” (Joseph Smith Translation of the Bible, JST) This quote comes from the byu.edu website.
What Joseph Smith did to change the Bible is so evil in the sight of God. Why the Mormon people at large see his translation as inspired doesn't make any sense. These people don’t seem to care that Joseph changed the KJV Bible. How he made multiple changes to scriptures, along with the Book of Revelation. This was done despite the serious warnings against doing so in Revelation 22:18,19. Mormons argue that this doesn't apply, as Joseph was inspired by God to get the Bible back to the original state. It is nothing short of a lie that Joseph Smith was inspired by God to make such intrusive alterations to His Holy Word. What do you think about Joseph Smith corrupting God’s Word? I find it intolerable. When examining the Joseph Smith Translation, we can see notable discrepancies to the Bible. These differences in scripture could lead one to question the motivations and credibility of Joseph Smith. There are, in fact, some substantial changes made to the King James Bible. I am talking about differences in verses that will get you scratching your head.
As mentioned above, there are over 3400 verses that were changed in comparison to the KJV. How could anyone believe in Joseph Smith as a prophet and his corrupted Bible after this? The weird thing about this, is that people of the Mormon faith support this revised King James Bible. They proclaim that Joseph was simply restoring the Book back to the original. What they don’t realize is that we have an increasing amount of evidence from the past that supports the truthfulness of the King James Bible. The earliest manuscripts of the Bible help us understand that the KJV can be trusted, along with other word-for-word translations. This gives us a feeling of hope that God preserved His Word from generation to generation. Anyone willing to corrupt God's Word cannot be trusted. This is why Joseph Smith is not a prophet. This man added to and took away from the Book of Revelation. In so doing, he seriously changed the meaning of those passages. I will lay down evidence of this crime by comparing the King James Version with the Joseph Smith Translation. Here is just a sample of the changes that you will find in this book…
"And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth." (Revelation 5:6 – KJV)
"And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having twelve horns and twelve eyes, which are the twelve servants of God, sent forth into all the earth." (Revelation 5:6 – JST)
Looking at what is bolded in the JST, "seven" was changed to "twelve" in three instances of this verse, while "Spirits" was changed to "servants". Seven is a number for completeness, while Spirits are heavenly messengers from God. As for the changes in this verse, do any other translations of the Bible have these same changes? No. So, what does this mean? It means that Joseph Smith is currently in hell right now. What I've just presented demonstrates this. The multitude of other verses changed in the Book of Revelation make this apparent. Here is a list of all the verses I'll be covering…
• Revelation 1:1,3,4,7,20
• Revelation 2:8,12,18,22,26,27
• Revelation 3:1,14
• Revelation 4:4,5,6
• Revelation 5:6
• Revelation 6:1,14
• Revelation 9:1,14,16
• Revelation 10:4
• Revelation 12:1,4,6,7,8,9,11,12
• Revelation 19:15,18,21
The verses mentioned above are not small changes when compared to the King James Bible. Joseph took away words from verses, rearranged others, and added new phrases. These changes to the Bible are very serious and should not be taken lightly. Keep this warning in mind. “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18,19) Therefore, people who take away from the Book of Revelation will have their names removed from the Book of Life. This is exactly what happened to Joseph, as those verses do not lie. People are punished by the wrath of God if they add to or remove from this prophecy.
While researching Joseph Smith and his life, it was revealed to me that he was a false prophet and a con man. This one man is accountable for leading millions of people astray. You see, he wrote his own version of the Bible, called the Joseph Smith Translation (JST). This is where he blatantly changed over 3400+ verses in the King James Bible (KJV). Does this sound like a man of God? No. Would God’s prophet take the KJV Bible and change it to his liking? No. God would remove their names from the book of life. So, what happens to people like this? #1, they are sent to hell when they die. #2, they are judged and cast into the lake of fire. It is written, “and I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:12-15)
My friends, if Joseph Smith is in hell, imagine the path he put Mormons on. I am talking about the path of destruction. Therefore, leave this cult immediately while you still have time. The warning of getting our name blotted out of the book of life applies to Joseph Smith. He literally changed the Book of Revelation’s wording, which got him into this trouble in the first place. This was because of his pride. He had certain beliefs and wanted to make them also show up in the Bible. His church doctrines would then appear to be correct to the people. However, this is tarnishing God's Holy Word's in scripture and has consequences. Therefore, God has removed his name from the book of life. Anyone not in the book of life has his place in the lake of fire. This automatically disqualifies Joseph Smith as a true prophet. Because the Mormon Church was founded by Joseph Smith, it means that this church is false and not of God. Anyone proclaiming to be a prophet that modifies or adds to the Bible is a false prophet. Beware of false prophets and false churches alike, lest you also be deceived.
For over a thousand years it has been established that the Bible is the only Word of God. People know the Bible to be God’s inspired Word. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God.” (2 Timothy 3:16) God’s Word is pure and should not be added to. Those that add to or modify the Bible, God will rebuke. “Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:5,6) This warning is true today. Joseph Smith may have claimed he received a new gospel message from God, but it doesn't mean it was from Him. Do not be deceived. “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8) Speaking of false prophets, the Bible says the following. It is written, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”. (Mathew 7:15) Joseph may have been seen as a man of God, but his desire to tarnish the Bible classifies him as a false prophet. This is because no true prophet would ever think of doing this.
As you read on, the different changes to the KJV Bible will be readily apparent. The chapters of Revelation and their books and verses will be looked at with a fine comb. The differences between the KJV and JST will be easily seen as they are compared one by one. The reading will be very convicting, for those who have an open heart to God. It will either make you love or hate the author, your church leaders or Joseph Smith. In the end, my desire is not for you to become an atheist, but to turn to Jesus. The later choice of coming to Jesus is what I hope for. Although the Mormon church is false, Jesus still saves, and you can have a relationship with Him still. It is better to leave what is false behind and follow Christ for salvation. Otherwise, you are no better off than staying in a false church. What I hope people understand is this: It is not about religion but a relationship with Jesus that saves. And for salvation to kick in, it means giving up some false beliefs, and admitting that you are wrong on things of God. There is nothing wrong with accepting that the Bible is right, and you are wrong. As you put aside other books and read the Bible, God will reveal the truth to you. You will then desire to unlearn what is false and learn what is true. This is my prayer. May you learn to appreciate the Bible more and more as you read this book. God bless you! Amen.
