Notable changes to Genesis 50:24:
• JST: An extra phrase was added to the verse: It is written, "and go unto my fathers; and I go down to my grave with joy. The God of my father Jacob be with you, to deliver you out of affliction in the days of your bondage; for the Lord hath visited me, and I have obtained a promise of the Lord, that out of the fruit of my loins, the Lord God will raise up a righteous branch out of my loins; and unto thee, whom my father Jacob hath named Israel, a prophet; (not the Messiah who is called Shilo;) and this prophet shall deliver my people out of Egypt in the days of thy bondage." The King James Version (KJV) of Genesis 50:24 does not speak about Shilo, but in the JST it does. It is written, "the Lord God will raise up a righteous branch out of my loins; and unto thee, whom my father Jacob hath named Israel, a prophet; (not the Messiah who is called Shilo;) and this prophet shall deliver my people out of Egypt in the days of thy bondage." (Genesis 50:24 – JST) And instead of Shilo being a Messianic figure, it says Moses is this individual. However, Moses was from the tribe of Levi, not Judah. On the other hand, Jesus is from the tribe of Judah, and Shiloh means Messiah. Speaking of Shiloh, it is written, "Judah is a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be. Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes. His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk." (Genesis 49:9-12)

Shiloh will come from the line of Judah, and gather all people under one kingdom. A septre is a staff, meaning authority and power over a kingdom. There have been kings in Judah until the final king would come, who is Jesus. David was the first Jewish king in Israel, and the first Jew to have the sceptre. Speaking of Jesus, He would come after him, as the Messiah and King. It is written, "And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever." (2 Samuel 7:12,13) The sceptre would last until Yeshua would come. This took place in the 1st Century, the moment King Jesus was born. Speaking of washing his garments in wine, it is written, "and he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God." (Revelation 19:13) Jesus washed his garments in wine, or blood. This refers to the blood he shed for us on the cross. Give praise to the Lord Jesus. He came into this world to save us from our sins.

"And it shall come to pass that they shall be scattered again; and a branch shall be broken off, and shall be carried into a far country; nevertheless they shall be remembered in the covenants of the Lord, when the Messiah cometh; for he shall be made manifest unto them in the latter days, in the Spirit of power; and shall bring them out of darkness into light; out of hidden darkness, and out of captivity unto freedom." (Genesis 50:25 – JST)

"And Joseph confirmed many other things unto his brethren, and took an oath of the children of Israel, saying unto them, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence." (Genesis 50:37 – JST)

• JST: An extra phrase was added to the verse: It is written, "and it shall come to pass that they shall be scattered again; and a branch shall be broken off, and shall be carried into a far country; nevertheless they shall be remembered in the covenants of the Lord, when the Messiah cometh; for he shall be made manifest unto them in the latter days, in the Spirit of power; and shall bring them out of darkness into light; out of hidden darkness, and out of captivity unto freedom." (Genesis 50:25 – JST)
• JST: An extra phrase was added to the verse: It is written, "confirmed many other things unto his brethren." (Genesis 50:37 – JST)

The King James Version (KJV) of Genesis 50:25 does not speak about a branch being broken off. How this branch was carried off into a far country. Joseph Smith wrote this in the Bible, while pointing us to Lehi and his family. This is the supposed people group who left Israel and went overseas to America. It is written, "a branch shall be broken off, and shall be carried into a far country." (Genesis 50:25 - JST) This verse also talks about this people group coming out of darkness and into the light. The additional phrase refers to the Book of Mormon, and its people, coming to the light for all the world to see. It is written, "shall bring them out of darkness into light; out of hidden darkness, and out of captivity unto freedom." (Genesis 50:25 - JST) How interesting that Joseph attempted to add the people of the Book of Mormon into the Biblical text. Notice how the verse says the people, meaning their writings, were in darkness but coming to light. This refers to their writings being found and brought to the world's attention. You may wonder why I am stating that Joseph wrote the Book of Mormon into Genesis 50, but it will make sense as you read more of this chapter.

You may wonder why the branch that was broken off and scattered is pointed to the Book of Mormon people. This is easy to see as you read more into the Joseph Smith Translation. It is written "Wherefore the fruit of thy loins shall write, and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins, and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah, shall grow together unto the confounding of false doctrines, and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of thy loins, and bringing them to a knowledge of their fathers in the latter days; and also to the knowledge of my covenants, saith the Lord." (Genesis 50:31 – JST) Joseph wrote himself in the Bible and said he would bring this book to light. It is written, "a seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins, and unto him will I give power to bring forth my word unto the seed of thy loins." (Genesis 50:30 – JST) This supposed seer would then have power to bring forth the words from the seed that was lost. This confirms that Joseph Smith attempted to add himself and the Book of Mormon to the Bible.

"A seer shall the Lord my God raise up, who shall be a choice seer unto the fruit of my loins." (Genesis 50:26 – JST)

"So Joseph died when he was an hundred and ten years old; and they embalmed him, and they put him in a coffin in Egypt; and he was kept from burial by the children of Israel, that he might be carried up and laid in the sepulchre with his father. And thus they remembered the oath which they sware unto him." (Genesis 50:38 – JST)

The King James Version (KJV) of Genesis 50:26 does not speak about a seer being raised up, but we do in the JST. It is written, "a seer shall the Lord my God raise up, who shall be a choice seer unto the fruit of my loins." (Genesis 50:26 – JST) This seer is referring to Joseph Smith. You will see this as we read further in Genesis 50. It is written, "that seer will I bless, and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded; for this promise I give unto you; for I will remember you from generation to generation; and his name shall be called Joseph, and it shall be after the name of his father; and he shall be like unto you; for the thing which the Lord shall bring forth by his hand shall bring my people unto salvation." (Genesis 50:33) Notice what this seer's name is. His name is Joseph, and is named after his father, Joseph. Speaking of Joseph Smith, his father was named, Joseph Smith Sr. The JST also says that Joseph will be like unto God. For by his hand, people will be brought to salvation.

Notice how in verse 26, we learn about Joseph in Egypt's passing. It is written, "so Joseph died, being an hundred and ten years old: and they embalmed him, and he was put in a coffin in Egypt." (Genesis 50:26) And since the chapter ends with Joseph's passing, Joseph Smith thought he would continue the story of his posterity, and him coming from his line. Unfortunately, adding to the verses is not something a prophet of God would do. This is especially true with verses 27 through 38 being written into the Biblical text. One of the most damning things a person can do in this life is to remove or take away from the Bible. And to take this to the next level is when people write themselves into a revised translation of God’s Word. This person, of whom I am speaking is Joseph Smith. Every Mormon should be very upset with him. This man had the nerve to write his name in the Bible! You will know what I mean when reviewing the additional verses in the JST version of Genesis 50. As for the KJV, the chapter ends with verse 26. Even the earliest manuscripts agree. Only does the JST adds twelve additional verses to the chapter. See below for details…

Genesis 50:27-38 (JST)
27 Thus saith the Lord God of my fathers unto me, A choice seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins, and he shall be esteemed highly among the fruit of thy loins; and unto him will I give commandment that he shall do a work for the fruit of thy loins, his brethren.
28 And he shall bring them to the knowledge of the covenants which I have made with thy fathers; and he shall do whatsoever work I shall command him.
29 And I will make him great in mine eyes, for he shall do my work; and he shall be great like unto him whom I have said I would raise up unto you, to deliver my people, O house of Israel, out of the land of Egypt; for a seer will I raise up to deliver my people out of the land of Egypt; and he shall be called Moses. And by this name he shall know that he is of thy house; for he shall be nursed by the king’s daughter, and shall be called her son.
30 And again, a seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins, and unto him will I give power to bring forth my word unto the seed of thy loins; and not to the bringing forth of my word only, saith the Lord, but to the convincing them of my word, which shall have already gone forth among them in the last days;

32 And out of weakness shall he be made strong, in that day when my work shall go forth among all my people, which shall restore them, who are of the house of Israel, in the last days.

34 And the Lord sware unto Joseph that he would preserve his seed forever, saying, I will raise up Moses, and a rod shall be in his hand, and he shall gather together my people, and he shall lead them as a flock, and he shall smite the waters of the Red Sea with his rod.
35 And he shall have judgment, and shall write the word of the Lord. And he shall not speak many words, for I will write unto him my law by the finger of mine own hand. And I will make a spokesman for him, and his name shall be called Aaron.

Speaking of new verses in Genesis 50, verses 30, 31, we hear about the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith. In verse 30, it begins by writing about Joseph Smith. It is written, "a seer will I raise up out of the fruit of thy loins, and unto him will I give power to bring forth my word unto the seed of thy loins" (Genesis 50:30 - JST) And then we have Joseph Smith speaking of himself, starting with verse 26, all the way to verse 33. In verse 31 it talks about the Bible and Book of Mormon coming together. It is written, "wherefore the fruit of thy loins shall write, and the fruit of the loins of Judah shall write; and that which shall be written by the fruit of thy loins, and also that which shall be written by the fruit of the loins of Judah, shall grow together unto the confounding of false doctrines, and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace among the fruit of thy loins." (Genesis 50:31 - JST) Verse 33 is the most damning of all. For in that verse, Joseph wrote his very name in the Bible, as that prophet and sear in the last days. It is written, "that seer will I bless, and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded... his name shall be called Joseph, and it shall be after the name of his father; and he shall be like unto you; for the thing which the Lord shall bring forth by his hand shall bring my people unto salvation. (Genesis 50:33)

As Joseph Smith wrote, you can see how he wanted to convince people that he was predestined to be a prophet. How because of him, the Book of Mormon would come forth into the world. As we read in verse 31, it says that false doctrines will be confounded, along with contentions, because of the Bible and Book of Mormon coming together. This is far from the truth. Joseph claimed in these verses that these two books work hand in hand together. That is so wrong. But again, verse 33, is telling all the world that Joseph Smith is the last day's prophet, of which "by his hand shall bring my people unto salvation...his name shall be called Joseph, and it shall be after the name of his father...that seer will I bless, and they that seek to destroy him shall be confounded" (Genesis 50:33 -JST). Wow, oh wow! This is enough for Joseph Smith to deny God and His Holy Word, as he thought he knew better. And because Joseph Smith added to the Bible, he is now suffering in hell. Yes, that liar is serving his time, while being tormented in flames of fire. He will be there until the day of judgment is set before him, along with every other person who finds themselves in hell. I know this since the Bible clearly says, “every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.” (Proverbs 30:5,6) And “all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

My friends, you cannot be a part of a church or religious organization whose leader changed and added to the Bible. This is blasphemy to God and His holy Word. Therefore, people must come out of this false religion and unto Jesus to be saved. There is a warning in the book of Revelation, chapter 22, which reads, “for I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.” (Revelation 22:18,19) Any person who thinks they can change the verses in the Bible or add new ones is called a “liar”. These same people God has taken away their name from the book of life. And if your name is not in the book of life, then you will be cast into the lake of fire, which burneth forever. It reads, “and death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:14,15) This is a warning to all the people out there who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. If you do not repent and resign, then you will be accountable for following a false prophet. So, come out of this false religion today and unto Jesus. He will take you in and forgive you of all your sins and false beliefs.

"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:6-9)

The Apostle Paul warns us about false prophets that would lead us astray. They may appear to be part of a religion that God approves, but when the gospel message is examined, it is not from Him. The book that Joseph Smith brought into the world is not of God, and teaches a false gospel. The portion of the JST in Genesis, chapter 50, speaks of Joseph Smith bringing the Book of Mormon to light. How this book is so important and God approved. This is something a false prophet would want written into the Bible. This would compel people to want to read his new book and accept it as scripture. However, this book is not what it seems. It teaches that Jesus paid for our sins while in the garden, not simply on the cross. This teaching in itself is a damnable heresy and a big problem. Paul taught that if anyone comes teaching another gospel, let him be accursed. It is a big deal to be cursed by God, especially when it comes to believing in a false gospel. Now, you may wonder where the Book of Mormon teaches this false gospel. The passage is found in Mosiah 3:7. We will examine that next.

The Book of Mormon teaches a garden atonement. It is written, “and lo, he shall suffer temptations, and pain of body, hunger, thirst, and fatigue, even more than man can suffer, except it be unto death; for behold, blood cometh from every pore, so great shall be his anguish for the wickedness and the abominations of his people.” (Mosiah 3:7) And so we learn that Jesus suffered for our sins in the garden, while bleeding from every pore. This is a common teaching in Mormonism. They say it gives more insight to what we see in Luke. It is written, “and he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.” (Luke 22:41-44)

Notice how Luke doesn’t mention anything about a payment for sins in the garden, but that Jesus's sweat looked like blood falling to the ground. Because of the Book of Mormon, Mormons believe that Jesus began the atonement process for sins in the garden and ended it on the cross. Mosiah 3:7 teaches that Jesus’s suffering in the garden is for the wickedness, and abominations of people. However, the Bible speaks of something very different. How Jesus asked the Father to remove the cup of suffering, which is the cross. He was in deep thought when it came to this next event, and angels came to strengthen Him. It pained him. His sweat had the appearance of blood, as it poured to the ground like blood. However, the Bible doesn't say anything about this act of sweating being for an atonement. However, Joseph Smith thought differently, so he made up a new narrative about Gethsemane in the Book of Mormon. This way people would get a new understanding of the atonement. This is a false gospel.

Thankfully, the Bible teaches us where the atonement really takes place. Paul taught that through Jesus’s death, atonement was made for us. It is written, “but God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” (Romans 5:8-11) So we learn that when Jesus died, atonement was made for our sins. This is not accepted in Mormonism, and instead, they put up with a false gospel. It is written, “but I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” (2 Corinthians 11:3,4)

Paul taught the true gospel and what happens to people who believe in something different. It is written, “moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose from the grave. This is the true gospel message. True Christians reject anything but the cross for an atonement. As for people who reject the gospel, Paul said, “in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power.” (2 Thessalonians 1:8,9) The truth is, the Book of Mormon teaches another gospel and should not be read.
