Who would be so bold as to say they are better than Jesus? Surely, a true believer in God would never say this. Nor would they tell others that they have done more than Jesus. A person who does this should worry their soul, for God may strike them dead for saying this. This is something a person of the world would do, not a person of God. All Christians would agree with this statement. However, this is not the case in Mormonism. You see, their founding prophet said all this and more about Himself. Read for yourself, coming from the mouth of Joseph Smith. “Come on! ye prosecutors! Ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! For I will come out on the top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet.” (History of the Church:408-409)
We are warned against such individuals who place themselves above God. This has happened in the times of Jesus on many occasions and now we see this in many false religions today. Back in the times of the earlier church, Peter warned about these people. “But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.” (2 Peter 2:1,2) These damnable heresies spoken here are found in Mormonism. Think of their teachings of the pre-existence, atonement in the garden, eternal marriage, baptisms for the dead, and many other things. These teachings are all false, but to Mormons, they are true for their current prophets and extra-Biblical books say so. They deny the Lord Jesus by saying He is Lucifer’s brother, a created being, the son of the Father who has a body. Truly, these people are causing Christians to go astray. Don’t be deceived. Amen.
Let us pray:
Oh Lord, I pray that Mormons will stop closing their hearts to You and Your witnesses that are in all the world. We are only trying to help them know You, but they continue to have closed minds and hearts to what is true. They see us as a threat to what they believe in, and so they prey on the weak instead of hearing out what Christians want to share with them. Even today I was reading a message I wrote about Mormonism, and immediately my family thought I was the worst person to ever walk the earth. God, this is common in this household. I don’t understand why truth hurts so much, but it does. I can still remember when I was stuck in this cult. It offended me also when I heard people speaking against what I believed in. However, now I am glad that there were people so bold as to speak Your truth, no matter if it caused certain individuals to be offended. What I know, Lord, is that it is better to be offended in this life and come to know Your truth, than to be offended in the next and have no chance at being saved. You are God, Jesus, and I am grateful that You saved me. I love You! I give You praise. Amen.
Yes. I have previously read his boastings. God will not share His glory with anyone. I have certainly seen this arrogance in a lot of the Mormons on the CvM site.
So we can’t share in the divine nature?
